The rich culinary heritage of Idrija is gaining new dimensions with the new brochure "Stoletni recepti iz Hiše Giser skozi oči mladih" (Recipes from Giser House through the Eyes of Youth). The recipes, which can also be tasted as part of the gastronomic-theatrical experience have been modernized and transformed into a contemporary video format with the help of students from Idrija High School!
When we took over Giser House a few years ago, we never imagined what interesting things could be hidden inside. We discovered many treasures, from forgotten family albums and a book about Tito to a unique collection of files and tools for a thousand and one things. In one drawer, we found a special booklet. From the moment we opened it, the old smell and patina gave us the feeling of uncovering something ancient and unique. In front of us was a booklet filled with homemade recipes. Without any signatures or special notes, just a date that took us back 100 years—to 1921. The cookbook, with over 100 recipes, indicated that our ancestors also enjoyed good food.
Students Created Video Recipes
We collaborated with students from High School Idrija, who explored the recipes as part of their school work. We selected seven recipes from the booklet, four of which the students cooked during a special workshop, recording and editing the preparation. This way, the young students not only got to know the rich culinary heritage but also connected with it and discovered its relevance for today's time. Some of the recipes are also available as part of the gastronomic-theatrical experience, which is possible to see at Giser House.

This concludes our part of the "Skupaj za več znanja" project, carried out within the Local Action Group "LAS s CILjem". We also presented the project at the Idrija Žlikrofi Festival, where young cooks, including international volunteers from Bulgaria and Spain, prepared Idrija Žlikrofi.

We would like to thank High School Idrija (especially teachers Tinkara Grilc, Manica Seljak, and Klavdija Stepančič), Idrija-Cerkno Development Agency, Tine Grošelj, Tomaž Markič, Tine Mažgon, and Tilen Božič for their help in implementing the project.
