From Viking Warriors to Climate Warriors

In the beginning of May, a new project – Planet Pulse – officially started with an inspiring partner meeting in the Norwegian capital, Oslo. This millennia-old city founded at the end of the Viking Age in the 11th century, has seen many changes, from Vikings to the Contemporary Age. However, like the rest of the world, it is now facing a new era of change – climate change.

Unmasking the Hidden Impacts of Climate Change

We know what the main physical consequences of climate change are, but they are not the sole effects. There are also hidden and underlying consequences, such as those that have a psychological impact on us, like anxiety related to climate change.

The new project “Planet Pulse: Youth Rising Above Climate Anxiety” focuses on educating and supporting young people in dealing with such climate challenges. The project aims to empower young people to transform these emotions into effective action on climate change, with an emphasis on awareness, education, and cooperation. Through innovative approaches such as manuals, digital platforms, and virtual events, the project advocates for a sustainable future and overcoming climate anxiety among young people.

Your story counts, share it with us!

Through the project, our intention is to share the stories of young people who have faced or are still facing emotions related to climate change. By constructively expressing their feelings, they can show the way those who are still searching for it.

Climate creativity leads the way

The lead partner of the project is the non-profit organisation Climate Creativity, also located in Oslo, Norway. They use creative approaches such as storytelling and art to deal with these challenges and focus on turning them into a positive outcome.

During the partner meeting, we first got to know each other and our organisations better.

To immerse ourselves into the project and its aims, we reviewed the research as well as explored our own feelings related to climate change. This helped us better understand the work packages and gain an understanding of how to approach youth who experience strong emotions related to climate change.

A bright future awaits!

The two days concluded with a fresh impression of the project and the creative methodologies we learned about to carry out the mission.

We not only firmly believe this, but it has also been proven that positive changes are possible. By teaching young people how to regulate overwhelming emotions and transform them into positively oriented actions, big steps can be made towards a brighter future for us and those who come after us.
